This Volunteer Release & Waiver of Liability Agreement (“Agreement”) is made by the undersigned volunteer (“Volunteer”), in the spirit of seva (selfless service), in favor of the Hindu Temple of Atlanta (HTA), its trustees, officers, directors, priests, employees, volunteers, agents, and representatives (collectively, the “Temple”).
1. Seva (Volunteer Service Activities)
I understand that my voluntary service (seva) may include, but is not limited to, participation in religious ceremonies, festivals, cultural programs, food preparation and distribution (prasadam), cleaning, maintenance, administrative assistance, crowd guidance, educational activities, and other Temple-related services conducted on or off Temple premises (“Volunteer Activities”).
2. Voluntary Offering of Service
I affirm that my service is offered freely and voluntarily as an act of seva. I understand that I will receive no wages, salary, or monetary compensation for my participation.
3. Assumption of Risk
I acknowledge that participation in Volunteer Activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to personal injury, illness, or property loss. I understand that the services I provide to HTA while carrying out activities at any place within HTA properties may include activities that may be hazardous to me including, but not limited to involving inherently dangerous activities, such as assisting with parking, or in the Prasada Gruha (Kitchen), or in operating equipment or vehicles in service of the Temple. With full awareness and mindfulness, I knowingly and willingly assume all such risks, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable.
4. Release and Waiver of Liability
In the spirit of goodwill and to the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release, waive, and discharge the Temple from any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, or liabilities arising out of or related to my participation in Volunteer Activities, including those resulting from the negligence of the Temple, except where prohibited by law.
5. Medical Care Authorization
If emergency medical care becomes necessary, I authorize the Temple to obtain such care on my behalf. I understand that all medical expenses incurred shall be my responsibility.
6. Personal Belongings
I acknowledge that the Temple is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to my personal property while I am engaged in Volunteer Activities.
7. Conduct in Accordance with Dharma
I agree to conduct myself with respect, humility, and discipline, consistent with Temple policies, Hindu cultural values, safety guidelines, and principles of dharma. Failure to do so may result in discontinuation of my volunteer service.
8. Photography and Media Consent
I grant permission for photographs, video recordings, or other media captured during Volunteer Activities to be used by the Temple for religious, educational, or promotional purposes without compensation.
9. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia.
10. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
11. Sacred Acknowledgment
I affirm that I have read and understood this Agreement fully. I sign this document freely, consciously, and voluntarily, understanding that I am waiving certain legal rights.
